First let me introduce myself, my name is Kristi, I live in Bryan, TX and I am 31yrs old. Now I would like to tell you my story of "why" I am a superwoman.
I'm not going to tell you my whole life story, I am only going to give a portion of it. At the tender age of 16 I became pregnant with my first child. At 18 I found out I was pregnant for the second time. At 4mos. the doctors told me my child would be born with a genetic disease called Spina Bifida. They told me to have an abortion that my daughter would be a vegetable and more than likely wouldn't live anyway. I chose against the doctors advice and had my child, besides her life wasn't my choice, God is the one who chooses life between death. By the age of 24 I had 6 children. I now have a 14yr old, 12yr old that the doctors said wouldn't even be alive, 10yr old, 9yr old, 8yr old and almost 7yr old. I am so very blessed!!!! I have raised my children by myself. Being a single mother isn't easy but I know that my children are depending on me. With their fathers no where around I knew I had to do it alone. I did receive welfare for some time but realized that it was time for me to stand up and do whatever was necessary to care for them completely on my own. I now am a truck driver. I work about 70 hours a week. My free time goes to my children. Although it is very difficult I am successful, I am independant, I am a good mother, I am confident. I can't imagine my life without my 6 children. Every morning I wake I thank God for the life He has given me and then I get up and put that "S" on my chest for everyone to see. I am so proud to tell about the obstacles I have overcome. Through all the pain and strife that I have endured I know that in the end it will all pay off. I have beautiful mixed (black & white) children who will know "momma" did whatever it took to make sure they had everything they needed!!!
To all the other Superwomen out there...we must keep our heads up in the times of dispare. We have to show our strength when everyone else around us are weak. Remember you are not alone!!!
